New centres for arbitration hearings in Stockholm

Stockholm has been a leading venue for international arbitration and mediation for decades. With demand for hearings on the rise, the Swedish capital has reacted by opening three new centres for arbitration hearings.

“Sweden has always been a neutral country, without corruption and I think that is important when choosing a location,” said Erica Thool of Stockholm International Hearing Centre (SIHC).

The centres have been set up in conjunction with the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and an advisory board of top legal experts from law firms such as Vinge and Mannheimer Swartling.

The organisation offers tailor-made services and caters for all needs and requirements in connection with the setting up of arbitration hearings.

“With our long experience of arranging arbitration and mediation hearings, we guarantee a high level of professionalism and privacy,” Thool said.

“Our project managers assist you throughout the whole hearing process: from booking transportation to arranging the hearing room to suit the particular needs of the case, and arranging court reporting, technical assistance and translation services.”

She explained that they have a lot of international hearings, but typically at least one of the law firms is Swedish.

Annette Magnusson, secretary general of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce said that the initiative represents an important addition to the infrastructure of arbitration in Stockholm.

“Stockholm has long been a leading place for international arbitration, and the demand for hearing venues and supporting services is increasing,” she said. “We therefore welcome this initiative.”

SIHC is a part of the conference and business centre 7A.
