Hell's Angel wounded in drive-by shooting

COPENHAGEN (AFP) - A member of the Hell's Angels biker gang was wounded in a drive-by shooting on a sushi restaurant full of diners outside Copenhagen, Danish police said.

The assailants fired several bullets at the Sticks'n'Sushi restaurant in the northern suburb of Hellerup, striking the biker in the ear and the jaw while none of the other customers were hit, police said.

The biker was having dinner with four other Hell's Angels at the restaurant which was serving 15 other customers.

"It's a miracle that the other customers were not hit by the five or seven bullets shot by two to three assailants," lead investigator Hans Rechendorff told TV2 News.

The shooters drove off after the attack and abandoned their car in the Noerrebro neighbourhood of the capital, where they set it on fire, police said.

The biker was taken to the university hospital in Copenhagen and his life was not in danger, a medical source said.

The wounded biker was identified as the bodyguard of a Hell's Angels leader, Brian Sandberg, who was apparently the target of the attack, police said.

It was the seventh shooting in the Danish capital in the last 10 days, raising concerns in the police department which fears a worsening of a drug and turf war between biker and immigrant gangs.

The conflict, which started in August 2008, has left six people dead, including two bystanders, and 25 others injured.
