“The downturn has passed”

Leaders for large Swedish companies say that the worst of the economic crisis has passed.

In almost all industries company leaders said that times are looking more and more bright, the statistics office said Wednesday.

In several cases the improvement has been dramatic.

“Last spring the majority of the industries considered themselves in a downturn in the business cycle. Now there are very few industries in a downturn”, Statistics Sweden wrote in a report. “The position in the business cycle has very clearly either reached bottom or already begun an upturn”

The attitude tends to be somewhat better for the service sector than for the manufacturing sector. Construction and healthcare is still under grave pressure.
