The global downturn keeps hitting Volvo Group, the world's second-largest truck maker by sale, as demand continues to get weaker. In August the company sold 7,109 vehicles. That was a decrease of 52 percent compared to a year ago.

In addition to continued low demand, deliveries for August were also affected by a prolonged vacation period, the Gothenburg-based company said, which makes trucks, buses and construction equipment.

In Europe sales was down 72 percent; 66 percent in West Europe and 84 percent in East. In North and South America sales were down a third.
