Just minutes before the New York stock exchange closed the Swedish online stockbroker Nordnet crashed. Investors trying to place orders were kicked out of the trading system or not able to log in.
"We are currently experiencing system disruptions and are working on solving them as quickly as possible", Nordnet wrote on its website.
On the popular chat-forum Börssnack, specializing in the stock market, people were furious and slammed the online broker as “useless” as they failed to place their bets.
Previously on the same night Nordnet said that it was "carrying out system maintenance" between 10 pm till 4 am the following morning. During the maintenance it would not be possible to log in or use any of our functions and services.
Nordnet has some 250,000 customers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Luxembourg, holding deposits of about 53 billion kronor (€5.2 billion).
