November’s presidential election, a 20th anniversary gala dinner and fresh announcements of large-scale infrastructure projects all across Sweden are keeping the staff of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Sweden busy.

That’s in addition to taking part in the City of Stockholm’s annual networking event on 25 October, hosted by Sten Nordin, the Mayor of Stockholm.

“It’s a good opportunity to meet with partners and political decision makers in Stockholm,” Berit Salheim, managing director of AmCham, told The Swedish Wire.

Salheim pointed out that there are numerous sectors that offer good business opportunities for U.S. companies in Sweden, such as in hotels, information technology, healthcare and the service industry.

But, she said, the raft of new infrastructure and construction projects in the Stockholm area, announced by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) and the Swedish government, are the most important projects to keep eye on right now.

AmCham Sweden works to develop Swedish-American business interests within Sweden by providing networking opportunities, business information and knowledge sharing.

The day after the US election, on 7 November, the chamber will get together with the U.S. Embassy, PR company Prime and broadcaster CNN to host a U.S. Election breakfast.

After Barack Obama won the election four years ago, a number of business opportunities opened up for Swedish companies in areas like clean-tech, energy efficiency and construction. Depending on the outcome of the latest election, new business and investment breaks may arise.

The chamber celebrates a new landmark on 16 November, when it hosts a 20th anniversary gala dinner at the Grand Hôtel, where speakers include Social Democracy leader Stefan Löfven and Facebook Nordic’s policy manager Thomas Myrup Kristensen.
