White-collar staff at Saab set to receive no pay
• Saab's creditors seek debt collection
White-collar staff at Saab Automobile will not receive their salaries this month as payments promised from investors has not been received, the firm has confirmed in a statement.
The day before the Sweden's state-controlled debt collector said that it has been asked to collect debt for eight of automaker Saab's creditors.
The cash-strapped Swedish carmaker is now in discussions with a number of stakeholders to try to find a short term solution in order for the wages to be paid out.
Saab spokesman Eric Geers told Reuters the decision affects about 1,600 people out of 3,640 employees, around 45 percent of its staff.
"The money has been committed, the only thing is, it has been delayed. This is very, very unfortunate for those people who have been affected," Geers said.
