15 new companies join ‘Life Science Hotlist’

• Biovica: “Growing interest being on the hotlist”
Last spring, a unique “hotlist” of 20 life science companies was created in a move to make it easier for foreign investors to find partners in the region. Now, 15 more names have been added to the list.
Ylva Hultman-Erlandsson, business development manager for life science at Stockholm Business Region Development, said the list included “some of the most promising new companies in the sector”.
To qualify, companies accepted on the list must offer a product or service based on unique research, which will lead to a commercial solution with global potential. They must also have established themselves on the market with a finished product or service or, alternatively, be close to the commercialization phase.
The list was prepared in collaboration with the consulting firm Avanture, and 35 companies from the Stockholm-Uppsala region are now included. It was established as a tool for investors, making it easier to find the region’s life science gems.
Foreign investments and partnerships are promoted by creating awareness of the list and an accompanying pitch book, via investor meetings and marketing initiatives.
“We can summarize a very positive first half-year, with almost 100 investor meetings and five continuing negotiations. There is a considerable interest in the region,” said Hultman-Erlandsson.
“The list does the groundwork for investors looking for opportunities.”
The new companies added to the list were:
Affibody, BioChromix, CathPrint, Gradientech, Scandinavian Biopharma, SciBase, SensAbues, SymCel, Viscogel, Dilafor, Glucox Biotech, Mando Group, Hoa’s Tool Shop, Infogosoft and SciLife Clinic.
