More cut-down by Swedish appliance giant as profits plunge.

• Electrolux shutting down Canadian plant
• Electrolux earnings dive after weak sales

Global household appliance company Electrolux said Wednesday it would shed another 800 jobs in Europe within the next two years

"In Europe, the workforce within the major appliances industrial operations will be reduced by approximately 800 employees. No factory will be closed," the company said in a statement.

The reductions, to be implemented gradually, are to be completed by the end of 2012, and a charge of 400 million kronor (40 million euros, 59 million dollars) would be booked in the fourth quarter of 2010.

The announcement came a day after the world's number two home appliance maker said it would shutter an appliance manufacturing plant in Quebec, putting 1,300 out of work, due to "competitive factors".

Electrolux, which counts nearly 51,000 employees, is next year to wrap up a restructuring plan it launched in 2004 and has recently closed several manufacturing sites across the globe.

The Swedish company said in October that profits had slumped 15 percent in the third quarter due to fewer sales in Europe and the United States and exchange rate losses.

In the July to September quarter Electrolux posted profits of 1.38 billion kronor (148 millions euros) against 1.63 billion a year earlier, while sales fell five percent to 26.33 billion kronors.
