Statoil inks $437 million deal with Swedish driller

Statoil, Norway’s largest oil producer, has signed a three-year contract with Swedish maritime drilling contractor Stena Drilling for hire of the Stena Don drilling rig.
The contract value is 437 million dollars over a period of three years, Statoil said in a statement Monday.
Plans call for the semi-submersible rig to be used for drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf, NCS.
"The rig will play an important role in Statoil’s efforts to reach its NCS production targets", the Norwegian oil firm said.
The rig was also under contract with Statoil from 2001 to December 2009.
“We have long experience with Stena Don, and we look forward to continuing the cooperation with this rig,” said Anders Opedal, head of procurements in Statoil.
