Sweden's main airports reopen
Sweden's main Arlanda international airport reopened on Monday for flights to the north and west of the capital Stockholm.
• Air traffic disruption: country-by-country
• Scandinavian airspace reopens for business
• 30 percent of European flights to depart Monday
"Arlanda is open since 8:00 am (0600 GMT) only to traffic north and west," airport spokesman Per Fröberg told AFP.
"A cargo plane from the United States has landed 30 minutes ago. In two hours, a plane will take off to Chicago and one to New York. The airport is open and remains open until further notice."
The forecast is that Stockholm-Bromma Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport will be opened during the morning, Swedish air traffic authority LFV said in a statement.
Large parts of the upper airspace over southern Sweden is open which makes it possible to fly at high altitude over the ash cloud and then go down into the fully open airspace and back to, for example Stockholm Arlanda. The forecast for Monday night is that the situation may deteriorate again, with the risk of airspace closing.
