€60bn of Stockholm investments up for grabs at MIPIM

• Investment Hotlist: Stockholm property market

Last year, Stockholm made its mark at a leading international real estate exhibition in Cannes when it was proclaimed Europe’s most exciting investment location.

Now the Swedish capital returns to the MIPIM event with investment opportunities totalling €60 billion.

“Stockholm is an interesting market, showing strong growth and with the support of a healthy economy it will continue to be attractive”, said Carl Wingmark, director at consulting company PwC.

Together with both private and public organisations and companies, Stockholm Business Region will organise a number of seminars and press events highlighting the region’s most important projects.

Participating partners include a long list of development companies, such as Vasakronan and JM, as well as architecture and consultancy firms. Twenty one politicians and officials from Stockholm will also be present.

Stockholm and its 50 neighbouring districts currently have 4,300 development projects planned up to 2020, mainly targeting infrastructure and commercial and residential buildings, according to consultancy firm Tyréns.

In total, these projects amount to an investment potential of €60 billion.

Major projects currently under construction include Hagastaden (an area in Stockholm which is aiming to be a world-leading research and highly specialised medical care centre), Stockholm bypass Project (a new motorway linking southern and northern Stockholm) and Stockholm City Line (a railway tunnel under construction beneath central Stockholm).

MIPIM brings together companies from all sectors of the real estate industry – office, residential, retail, healthcare, sport, logistics and industrial – and offers access to development projects and sources of capital worldwide.
