Sweden’s Justice Minister Beatrice Ask said Monday that "undercover photography" without peoples permissions in private areas -- such as in theirs homes, dressing cabins or gym changing rooms -- should be illegal.

"It's partially private homes, generally speaking, but there are also toilets, changing rooms and places that aren't public in the common sense of the word, but are rather spaces for a certain degree of privacy," Beatrice Ask told Swedish Radio.

The new law could limit journalists' abilities to uncover wrongdoings in society, critics said. But the Justice Minister said that if there was a genuine public interest then exceptions could be made by courts.
