A strong 2012 for Kista Science City
In total 44 companies moved to the region in 2012.
“The statistics show that Kista Science City is home to over 1,100 IT companies, which is unparalleled in Sweden," said Nordin, Stockholm’s commissioner of finance and the chairman of the Municipal Board. "Kista Science City also compares well internationally, with few locations boasting the same depth of ICT expertise.
"Despite economic challenges, the region as a whole continues to see strong growth," he added.
With more companies, more jobs and more offices being built, Kista is well on the way to achieving the vision set out for 2020.
“Our common vision for 2020 is very important to the development of the region. All the major players in the region are helping with this work – from academia and research to companies, property owners and municipalities. As a result, Kista Science City is being developed into an attractive and dynamic city with all the key elements a city should have,” Nordin said.
The development is continuing into 2013, with Bahnhof having already built its new spaceship-like data centre next to the E4 motorway, and exciting construction projects like the Kista Torn skyscraper and NOD office complex in development.
In addition, IT consulting giant CGI (formerly Logica) will be moving to Kista Science City during the year, along with its 1,500 employees.
“The pace of development is rapid and more and more people are realising the added value of working in such a vibrant environment where cooperation abounds,” Nordin said.
