Reykjavik's comedian-turned-mayor hospitalised

• Iceland's Prime Minister goes on strike
REYKJAVIK (AFP) - The comedian-turned-mayor of Iceland's capital Reykjavik, Jon Gnarr, has been hospitalised due to his new tattoo, after it developed an infection, a leader in his political party said Tuesday.
"Jon Gnarr is the victim of a serious infection from his tattoo, but it is not a blood infection," said Heida Helgadottir of the mayor's "Best Party."
She added that he should be released from hospital by Thursday.
Gnarr was admitted to the infectious disease unit of Landspitali hospital in the capital after returning from a trip to Stockholm last weekend.
The troublesome tattoo on his arm, which he had done a few weeks ago in Reykjavik, is related to his work -- a representation of the city's coat of arms.
Just a few months after founding the Best Party along with a handful of other celebrities, the 43-year-old comedian with his shock of strawberry blond hair surprisingly swept the municipal elections in June.
He promised to be "first of all a fun mayor."
