The number of new cars totalled 24,074 in last month. This is an increase of 44 percent compared to August 2009, the statistics office said Wednesday.

An increase of 41 percent was noted for lorries during the same month, totaling 3,426 new lorries. The number of tractors increased almost 30 percent while sales of motor-cycles dropped 10 percent.
