Swedish central government payments resulted in a surplus of 4.4 billion kronor ($611 million) in March. The Debt Office's forecast was a deficit of 10.1 billion kronor.

“The difference is mainly explained by tax revenue being higher than expected”, the Dept Office said in a statement, explaining that in March many tax payers have continued to make supplementary tax payments for previous income years.

Tax revenue was 14 billion kronor higher than calculated.
