Engineering and business services on the rise while outlook worsened in healthcare and education.

The business sentiment for Sweden’s large enterprises has improved notably since last autumn, the statistics office said Monday. The improvement is most prominent among industries that suffered the most from the downturn.

“Many large enterprises have left the bottom of the business cycle behind and have begun the ascent. Thus, the forecast for the coming autumn is optimistic”, Statistics Sweden wrote in a statement.

Most industries are now on the rise. The sentiment has improved greatly for large industries like engineering and business services.

"With the lowest point behind them, it is no surprise that the enterprises are optimistic about the coming six months. The brightest prospects seem to be in engineering, the hotel and restaurant industry as well as in business services where more than 8 out of 10 enterprises expect an improvement in the upcoming autumn", the statistics office wrote.

The only industries where the situation has worsened since last autumn are healthcare and education, the two industries with the strongest sentiment.

In every industry more than half of the large enterprises consider themselves as being in an upturn in the business cycle. This is a clear move ahead compared with six months ago.
