HELSINKI, March 22, 2011 (AFP) - One of Europe's top paper makers Stora Enso said Tuesday it was shutting down its Kopparfors sawmill in Sweden, resulting in 110 lost jobs.

"The closure would affect not only the people who work at Kopparfors Sawmill and the pellet mill, but also many people in the community," executive vice president Hannu Kasurinen, said in a statement.

He added that the company would try to find re-employment options for sawmill employees.

Stora Enso said the sawmill had been running in the red for years with "no feasible options" to improve profitability.
