• Swedish Eniro denies takeover rumors
• Saab and Spyker boycott Swedish business daily
Sweden’s fourth biggest bank Swedbank is in merger talks with two different suitors; Swedish peers Nordea and SEB, business daily Dagens Industri said Friday. But Swedbank spokesperson Thomas Backteman quickly denied the media report.
"The information is totally false. There are absolutely no merger talks. I can't for the life of me figure out where the newspaper got its information from," he told the TT newswire. "No discussions are taking place about a merger with anyone."
Earlier this week the Stockholm stock exchange halted the trading in shares Eniro, the biggest yellow-pages publisher in the Nordic region, after the same newspaper wrote that a new investor were likely to swallow the company. Later the same day Eniro slammed the rumor as "media speculation" and said there are no ongoing talks with new external investors.
In August carmaker Saab and its Dutch owner Spyker announced a boycott of the Swedish business daily after “a series of speculative and often negative articles” about the companies.
Dagens Industri, founded in 1976, is Sweden’s most influential financial newspaper.
