Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract for components to the Carl-Gustaf man-portable weapon system, it said Monday. But the company won’t reveal who the buyer is.

“At the request of the customer, further details regarding the contract will not be announced”, Saab’s Head of business area Dynamics Tomas Samuelsson wrote in a statement.

The total value of the order is 357 million kronor ($ 45 million).

The Carl Gustaf is the common name for the 84 mm man-portable multi-role recoilless rifle produced by Saab Bofors Dynamics in Sweden. The first prototype of the Carl Gustaf was produced in 1946.

The weapon system has been exported to more than 40 customers around the world.

Saab is one of the three contesters in a multi-billion-dollar tender to supply Brazil’s air force with modern jet fighters.
