The collective talent of Sweden’s life science researchers, business developers and computers programmers has the potential to come up with life-changing solutions to life’s problems.

That’s according to Ola Cornelius, who is organising an event called Health Hack Day, to bring together all of those elements.

“We all have loved ones that could have benefitted from products and services not yet invented or available,” Cornelius, wrote on his blog.

“We have so much knowledge and competence within research, science and technology in Sweden but have a hard time creating successful life science products and services that reach an international market.”

The weekend event in Stockholm in May is described as “hackathon for soft- and hardware hackers, designers, researchers, entrepreneurs and business developers that participate in the creation of the future of life science and fitness’.

A hackathon is an event where people get together and develop projects in a short period of time. This particular hackathon will run for just 24 hours.

“Now is the time to start building and at Health Hack Day we want to create the arena where talented people, patients, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry and capital meet and get things going,” Cornelius said.
