Saab employees: Help us, Obama!

Auto Evolution said that the largest union representing Saab’s employees in Sweden, IF Metall, has written an open letter to President Obama to ask him to help save the company and the livelihoods of its more than 4,500 (now ex-) workers.

The letter which was posted on Swedish Radio asks Obama to tell Saab’s former owner GM to allow the sale of Saab to a new owner, along with some of their more basic technologies.

GM has refused to allow permission for their sale to a new owner, fearing that GM tech may end up in competitors’ hands. The letter stated that Saab would never pose a threat to GM.
The United States government still holds a 26 percent share of General Motors, the automaker highly responsible for Saab’s repeated failures at rebirth.
