With just over a year until the next general election, the opposition left-wing alliance on Tuesday said it ruled out any new referendum during the next parliamentary term.

"It is not on the agenda to hold a referendum on adopting the euro during 2010-2014," the leaders of the Social Democrats, Greens and Left parties wrote in a joint article in daily Svenska Dagbladet.

Men are more positive towards the euro than women, 47 percent compared to 37 percent. However, the percentage of women who would vote yes to the euro has increased significantly. Among men there was a considerably greater share who would vote yes than those who would vote no.

There’s also a continued majority for EU membership. In the last survey 51 percent said that they were mainly in favour of Sweden’s membership in the EU while only 23 percent were against.

The question was formulated: "If we were to have a referendum today to replace the krona as our currency, would you vote Yes or No for the euro as our currency in Sweden?". There were 6 506 interviews conducted.
