A young Swedish company behind the "first ever" brand of jeans made in North Korea is hoping its dark denims will be available for purchase online by the end of the day.

The communist-made designer duds, called Noko Jeans, were to have gone on sale Friday but Internet problems delayed the launch.

"Time hasn't been on our side," entrepreneur Jakob Ohlsson told AFP, explaining the company was still working on its sales website at midday Friday.

The jeans will also go on sale at trendy Stockholm department store PUB on Saturday.

"Saturday, the museum opens for the public," co-founder Jacob Åström said in a reference to the Noko Jeans Museum boutique.

A total of 1,100 pairs of the jeans were to go on sale for 1,500 Swedish kronor (150 euros, 226 dollars) each.

Noko Jeans refers to its sale space at PUB as a museum "because our experiment is much more a story ... of how this happened, what happened and about some of the people we met and came to love in North Korea" than just a pair of jeans.

Swedes Jakob Ohlsson, Jacob Åström and Tor Rauden Källstigen -- all under the age of 25 and with no previous experience in business or fashion -- started their project in mid-2007, prompted by a desire to enter in contact with the isolationist state.

The assembly of the pants -- the cut, the make and trim -- is all done in North Korea, the company said.
