Apple is planning to open its first store in Sweden and is currently viewing various potential store locations in Stockholm, according to several media reports.
Representatives from the technology company -- which for a time this summer had more cash reserves than the US treasury -- have combed through several cities in Sweden in search of store locations, the trade magazine Market reported.
Its new store -- the first in Scandinavia -- is expected to be located in the heart of Stockholm. The problem is finding a location that fits with Apple's store design concept.
Despite being secretive about its Scandinavian strategy, Apple signalled its intentions by registering the company name, Apple Retail Store AB, in late October.
According to unconfirmed reports in the tabloid Expressen, the store will be located in the former MEA department store, next to Audi's store at Norrmalsmtorg.
The concept Apple Store was introduced in the US in 2001 and has since spread around the globe.
