Swedes ready to sell their kidney
• Surgery better for prostate patients than 'watchful waiting'
Swedish Radio reports that some 22 percent of Swedish people said they can think of selling their kidney. Still, 67 percent said no while 11 percent were hesitating, according to a survey.
The Swedish Knowledge Radio survey was conducted among 1,000 adults. The question was "will you think of selling your kidney to the regional government for 300,000 kronor ($50,000)?"
Those who donate a kidney can still
live a normal life as the body recovers itself after loss of one of
the two kidneys.
Today, organ trade is banned in Sweden and most countries in the world.
