Elinor Ostrom study funded by Swedish agency

Swedish scientific research agency awards $2.4 million to natural resource study led by Nobel Prize winner Elinor Ostrom.

•  The story of non-economist Elinor Ostrom

Researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and the Indiana University in the United States are taking part in a three-year, $2.4 million Swedish government-backed study of natural resource management.

The project builds on work by IU political scientist and 2009 Nobel Prize winner Elinor Ostrom. Researchers at the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis will take part in the project, which will extend the study of resource management, social-ecological systems and related topics.

"This is an exciting project that will advance our understanding of some very important research questions," Ostrom, Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Indiana University Bloomington, told Herald-Times. "We at the Workshop look forward to rolling up our sleeves and working on these issues, along with our friends and colleagues at the University of Gothenburg and Resources for the Future."
