44-year-old Anna Kinberg Batra has been nominated as new leader of Sweden's conservatives, the Moderate Party, according to Swedish business daily Dagens Industri.

Kinberg Batra is described as a passionate liberal and a feminist. Today, she is the group leader of the Moderate Party in the Swedish Riksdag since 2010.

According to the news paper, Kinberg Batra was top listed by the party's nomination committee as heading the party after Fredrik Reinfeldt stepped down follow his defeat in the September 2014 general elections.

Kinberg, born 14 April 1970, became known to the general public when she stated that "people from Stockholm are more intelligent than people from rural areas" in her election campaign 1998. She later apologized for this statement.
