Stockholm residents spend more time commuting than on vacation
A new report from the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce shows that an average of 6.4 working weeks a year is spent on commuting to and from work, the Dagens Nyheter daily said Tuesday.
In comparison, people in Sweden normally enjoy five weeks paid vacation a year.
An average work trip in Stockholm takes 34 minutes, or 1 hour and eight minutes per day. The long travel time in the Stockholm region are partly explained by traffic-jams and low average speed for public transport.
Average speed for cars is only 36 kilometers an hour (22 miles per hour) and 20 km/h for public transport.
