Magnus Norberg Ohlsson, CEO of Tomologic
It's been a good start to the year for Stockholm-based metal cutting company Tomologic. First it was awarded the Swedish Cleantech Business Award 2012 and a few weeks later it won the Nordic Cleantech Open.
If that was not enough, the company was recently listed as one of Sweden’s 33 hottest young technology companies.
Josefin Nordström, chief financial officer of Tomologic, said that winning the awards has given the company a boost and brought it to international attention.
"Participating in the Nordic Cleantech Open opened up valuable contacts, such as potential partners, customers and investors," she told the Swedish Wire. "Winning the awards gave us international attention, which has generated interesting opportunities for the company."
The company offers a unique optimization system for maximum efficiency and minimal environmental impact in industrial sheet metal cutting. Its service reduces material and distribution cost, cuts production costs through more efficient use of the machine capacity and reduces climate impact.
The judges of the Nordic Cleantech Open said: "The process reduces scrap from raw material in this energy intensive industry by up to 50%. It was a combination of Tomologic's smart technology and go-to-market strategy which earned them the number one spot".
Josefin Nordström said the company is now looking to expand globally and is looking for new investors.
"We plan to scale up in a global market in near future", she said. "We are in talks with a number of potential investors."
• The Swedish Cleantech Business Awards ceremony was organised by the Swedish Energy agency and held at the Investor Forum at Energy Outlook in March.
• Nordic Cleantech Open was founded by Cleantech Scandinavia, Venture Cup Denmark and Innovit Iceland and was held at Aalto Venture Garage in Finland in April.
• The list of Sweden’s 33 hottest young technology companies was compiled by the magazines Ny Teknik and Affärsvärlden and announced in April.
